BATHROOMS Click on Photos to Enlarge before AFTER before AFTER This bathroom is a marriage between the old and the new. The original tile motif for this room was this green and black, but because the original 1920's tile floor had been cracked down the middle in an earthquake it had to be removed. However, the tile front on the bathtub was in excellent condition. This gave Give Me Shelter Design the inspiration for the new tile work. We removed the old tile, salvaged as much as we could and reused it to create the new floor, thresholds, and the mosaic tile detail at the top of the new shower surround and sink back splash. before AFTER This bathroom needed only a few changes to restore it to its original 1950's charm and yet make it feel up to date. We decided to coordinate the entire room around the original mosaic tile treatment. To do this we simply installed a new tile floor in a coordinating color where there had been wall to wall carpet. We painted the walls, trim and cabinetry in a complimentary, bright color scheme and then by replacing the brass plated vanity sconces, cabinet pulls, and plumbing hardware with chrome fixtures we were able to bring the freshness back to this wonderful light filled room. before AFTER This 1843 farm house was not built with bathrooms originally. So this renovation/restoration of the original structure and all the additions (bathrooms) required us to imagine what year it might have gotten plumbing! We decided to look to the 1920's for inspiration and found the black and white motif we choose for all three bathrooms of this project. All the bathrooms were remodeled with new fixtures, coordinated shower surrounds and floor tile as well as customized cabinetry, or existing closets were modified to compensate for the space lost when installing a pedestal sink or other era appropriate choices. These renovated bathrooms provided a more spacious and modern bath experience. before AFTER Residential rental rehabilitation using inexpensive and durable materials to create a fun, fresh environment designed to attract a new tenant. before AFTER Residential rental rehabilitation using inexpensive , durable materials to create a fun fresh environment designed to attract a new tenant. |
