BEFORE after The key to the transformation of this den was stripping away the carpet and many layers of paint to reveal the rustic beauty of the Douglas Fir paneling and rough sawn beams utilizing their natural color, grain and texture to warm the room and to frame the surrounding hills. Restoring the balance between the natural materials of the house and the natural beauty of the expansive views outside the massive and magnificent floor to ceiling windows. BEFORE after This client wanted Give Me Shelter Design to create a color and fabric scheme for this room centered around a Japanese triptych watercolor painting they had purchased while in Japan many years earlier. They had selected the new living room furniture suite just prior to the project and wanted to keep most of the existing sentimental antique furniture they had already collected. Give Me Shelter created a new lighting scheme, chose new paint colors for the walls and trim and selected the complimentary and coordinated fabrics used to create the custom window treatments, accent pillows, as well as to reupholster antique items all intended to accentuate the impact of the triptych. GMSD also designed the custom entertainment center and bookshelves needed to hold video games, controls, and extra blankets for chilly northeast winter evenings. BEFORE after For this living room Give Me Shelter Design used the existing marble fireplace mantle as the focal point for the pared down design scheme of the room. We accomplished this by covering the painted brick walls adjacent to the fireplace on both sides to eliminate it's texture and then we installed new marble sconces in complementary materials and style to that of the existing mantle. We removed the carpet and added the wood floor. This is an example of how Give Me Shelter Design can recommend simple changes that make a major impact on how a space feels. BEFORE After |
